Directed by filmmaker Ira Sachs, "Keep the Lights On" is about a documentarian named Erik (Thure Lindhardt, also nominated for a Spirt Award in the Best Male Lead category) and his boyfriend Paul (Zachary Booth), a formerly closeted lawyer with a increasingly dangerous drug problem.
"It's personally gratifying on many levels, not the least of which is seeing friends get recognition from [Film Independent]," said producer Jay Van Hoy to HuffPost Entertainment in a statement. "'Keep the Lights On' is such a personal and powerful story."
Van Hoy and his producing partner Lars Knudsen also worked on Spirit Award nominee "The Loneliest Planet" and "Here!" The duo produced "Beginners," the 2011 Indie Spirit favorite that won Christopher Plummer his Best Supporting Actor Oscar at the Academy Awards in February of this year.
