It’s official:
Kate Middleton can make anything look chic — even a school uniform.
After
rocking bangs
with panache earlier in the week, the Duchess of Cambridge made plaid
look posh again on a visit to St. Andrews, her former elementary school,
on Friday.
Paying tribute to St. Andrews’ colors, Middleton gave the uniform she
wore from 1986 to 1995 a chic update in a navy-and-emerald plaid
Alexander McQueen dress.
While
Olivia Palermo,
Emma Stone, and
Kristen Stewart
have tried the tartan trend in small doses with just a plaid blazer or
pants, Middleton went all-out plaid for the return to her old stopping
grounds.
And yet there was no mistaking Middleton’s McQueen for a school girl
uniform or for dowdy schoolteacher garb — even as she played a game of
field hockey in her dress and heels.
By reimagining the preppy pattern on the season’s hot A-line silhouette, the look was chic yet ladylike, just like the princess.
