A happy Julio Vera, the Academy's Museum Collections Manager, takes
possession of a pair of Ruby Slippers on January 31, 2012. With him can
be seen archivist Michelle Fandetti and conservator Jennifer Kim (in
goggles). The photo was taken by Joe Maddalena at Profiles in History,
Calabasas, California. "The Witch's Shoes" as this pair are known, are
the most well-preserved pair of Ruby Slippers known to exist, and are
the shoes seen when Dorothy, played by Judy Garland, clicks her heels in
the movie THE WIZARD OF OZ
